The Chemical Brothers are unquestionably one of the greatest electronic music acts in the world today. A duo consisting of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, they emerged in the early 1990s in the afterglow of the Manchester acid house scene. By 1995 they had made the leap from the underground and their now legendarily influential residency at the Heavenly Social into the mainstream, at the point where dance music became an unstoppable global movement, with the million-selling success of their debut album, Exit Planet Dust. The Chemical Brothers’ second album, Dig Your Own Hole, went stratospheric in 1997 and they have since collectively achieved half a dozen No.1 UK albums, headlined Glastonbury, Fuji Rock and Coachella numerous times, and won six Grammy Awards. They have collaborated with a host of internationally famous artists - and have created numerous soundtracks and scores. Creating their sound through “shunting things together”, the electronic duo draw on different genres and sounds to create their DIY-tinted dance music.
